Hey everybody! I have been so excited for all the requests for sessions I have gotten lately. The beginning of the year has been off to a GREAT start! Sorry for the lack of posting. I have just been sooooo busy!

I am excited to get my website site up and running! I have been working so hard on it. It will be up by next week. Sooooo here is the scoop! With my new website also comes higher pricing for 2009. So I wanted to give anyone who wants a chance to book NOW for your session.

Anyone who books a session before FEB 3rd will get my current pricing. You can book now even if you do not want your session done for months, but we can get it scheduled and you will still get the current pricing! plus you will guarantee a spot for your photoshoot.

What a beautiful day, Sunny 60 Degrees, a perfect Saturday for a wedding. The sun was awesome. I could not have asked for a better day for a shoot. Brian and Julie,I loved getting to know you guys. I will probably put some more on when I have some time. Congratulations!

1 year past and a new one on the way, What I've learned.

It seems strange that one year ago I knew I loved photography, I knew I could take good pics, and I had taken some great ones with my little point and click. My husband had been wanting to buy me my camera for about 3 years and I had always told him NO.
but he finally did it. One year ago I could have never taken this photograph.

This year has been a journey for me. Suprisingly emotional, as I poured a lot of effort into learning, and growing. I think I have tried to cram years worth of knowledge and practice into this year. I had a new baby this year too. So to say the least a lot of other things in my life have been neglected. {mostly laundry, but who needs clean clothes anyway!! LOL} I have been filled. I wanted something for myself, I wanted to do something I was good at. I wanted to excell at something, and feel proud of my creations because I love the arts, I love to Dance, and to paint and draw and create. I suprised myself at how much I devoured this. I have not felt passion for something outside of my kids for a LONG time.

BUT, as this new year is aproaching I find that I need to reflect on where I go from here. I am FAR from as good as I want to be. I still have so much to learn.
This year will be different for my photography, It will be slower, I will kick my business of the ground officialy, but not do as many sessions. My goal is to create unique custom images. I have found I can only do this if I have time to get to know the client, focus on the session, and put a lot of effort into the post processing.

I also want to get to know more photographers in my area and grow as I learn. My goal is to do a couple workshops this year so anyone who wants to do some with me:
lets find some kick but workshops and go to them. I will probably have to travel for them so I can meet up with anyone who wants to go too! I have been amazed at the amount of support and what I have learned from the photography community. I have made a TON of friends.

I have been inspired by many photographers through the years, starting in highschool as I looked at the many photojournalism photos done in the great depression and times of WAR. And there are so many breathtaking images out there. I feel inspired by light, and by the connections of the people I meet. I want to experiment more with self expression, and other kinds of photography besides portraits as well.

...so I guess we will see what this next year will bring, how I will grow and I am excited to see how my images and style change as I learn. I know this is long, and if you have read the whole thing....thanks! I hope this coming year brings great things to you. Grab life and soar with it.

Baby sessions are my FAVORITE! I have been waiting for this for months, we scheduled it for Jan. when she was due, but SUPRISE!!! he was WAY EARLY... so we bumped up the session because I want to get them when they are still in that early newborn stage, Oh was this fun and I am in love with some of these images.

{T} the frames are for the blog, but if you like them I can add them to ome of the photos for printing. I love some of these we got of your daughter too! Thanks for hanging out with me and my MESSY house. WOW it was the day after christmas and I did not realize what a mess it was until after you left, and I went into the playroom and was just mortified your husband was up there with your daughter! It really isn't that bad all the time!! LOL. I will have the rest edited in about a week and put them on a slideshow for you to see before printing!!! yay.

I LOVE the first two of Lex. I have been working very hard lately on light , exposure and processing with (clean process) editing and working on skin tones. Any of you photogs out there who know what I am talking about, I hope my work starts to reflect this.
Everyone has been so busy with the holidays, I am excited to get back into the swing of things and even more excited to kick off my new web site, blog, and logo! which should be soon so Keep checking in. I have not posted anything for a little while, cause I had so many in people in town for the holiday and then I was trying to catch up on some of my sessions. I posted a few new sessions below... and have a few more on the horizon. December is just so crazy! I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE christmas. I love the shopping the snuggling in the cold with hot chocolate, the lights, the spirit, the family, and the excitement. It has been so much fun to do so many sessions for peoples christmas cards. I can't wait to get some of them in the mail! how cool. I HEART christmas cards!

THis is my absolutly drop dead gorgeous sister and her little man! They came out to visit for the holiday and we had to do a little session... which was bonus for me cause they are both so photogenic. Jax always makes that cute little face where he makes his eyes go all big and gives a little smirk. It's so cute. I miss her so much, we talk on the phone all day and sometimes even talk on the phone and i/m ing on facebook at the same time... {yeah were dorks}. She is only 18 months younger than me, we shared a room and bed 4 ever! We have been in many many fist fights. I think the last one was soon after corey and I got married {funny story} but we love eachother... what are sisters for anyway, you can fight and then get in the car and go shopiing!!!! hahah LOL

I AM SOOOO TICKED! {or TICKETED, wichever fits best}

I totally got a ticket on the way home from a session today! grrrr. I am so out to redeem myself from this one. So I was in a little town I have never been to before and on my way home I emerge from a country road to a CRAZY stop light. THe freeway is on my left. I get in the left turn lane and quickly realize that if I turn onto the freeway I would be going AWAY from home, so I kindly waited for the others to go straight before I change lanes and went straight. The cop was right in front of me....if I thought this was illegal, I wouldn't have done it. (I do it all the time) so he does a U turn(in the middle of the intersection!!!!) and flips on his lights. SO I pull into the gas station and stop...he pulls out his bull horn and tells me to pull all the way forward! Then as he is walking to my car he shines a flashlight in my car to my hands like I have a gun or something. And it was not even dark!!!!! so Anal Joe the policeman, gives me a TICKET, even though I explained in my nicest most eye batting way that I am not familiar and did not know which way to turn etc. well he gave me the ticket anyway....I guess he had not met his ticket quota for the month or something...whatever I am so TICKED!

but the session was awsome and I got some great shots like this one... I will post more later.

I changed my header (again) and my background color from black to white. I get bored of the same thing over and over again...I am an aquarius, I guess it comes with the sign:) So I need some feedback. Do you like it? I can't decide if I like the black or white background. These kids were so sweet. I tried a new location I fell upon..and while we were there we saw a coyote pick up a bird and run away! It was so animal planet! We were safe though and had a great session. The baby was sick, but still did so good.

Yeah, that pretty much sum it up! Poor vanessa got spit up on A LOT a few times. And I don't know how many times I said "watch that nail" but in any case we had fun and we got some terrific Images. After so many rescheduling issues...we FINALLY got it together! This was such a fun and easy shoot. These kids were the sweetest most polite kids I have met in a long time. Thanks for not laughing too hard as I fell in the squirrel holes and almost killed myself! I loved hanging out with you and getting to know your family a little better. these are just a few for now. I will post more when I get finished editing. They are so beautiful!

So I am finally getting some more of these up. This was a birthday/mission farewell/ reunion....and I got to capture it. They had the cutest carnival at there house. jump houses and cotton candy and balloons and face painting...serious fun! O.K. not some sun flare A LOT of it! I am just a sucker for it. I love the sun!
We went to an apple Orchard with pumpkins etc. The sun was amazing and my kids looked so cute. I love how these turned out. I started editing them tonight and I could not stop! I am so excited to get these blown up and in my house! I changed some of them to sepia and I love the effect on these especially.

The baby is like...Seriously get away from me!

which one do you like better of {H} better, the sepia, or color? I can't decide I love them both!

this last one {H} just had to sit in the tree, even though she had a skirt on. She LOVES to climb trees and her dream is to have a huge tree she can sit in and read and write in her journal in all day! These are from the the {buddies} post I did. I just love this one of them on the bridge. I would have this huge in my house, I love the way the boys are looking at there brother. I don't think that I have told you that I love to take pictures for families that have kids with disabilities. I have done a baby with who was born with half a heart. Another little cutie with prater Williams (failure to thrive). And this sweet baby has brittle bone disease and has had a number of breaks already. I just admire the families and the love they have for these children, all children are special, but it takes special parents to take care of these special children and it has been my pleasure to be a part of these little people and capture them for their families. I love this family for sure, they have become our great friends and they inspire me every day!

So a few more of these guys too! by the time I was done editing these, I just had a few more that I loved. I had so much fun with the texture on these first three. combined with the {wishing dandelions} they felt magical to me. when I told my husband that he just looked at me funny...but oh well it's not his art right?

I love the color in these like in the photo above, but when I did the black and white conversion and did a high contrast...something else happened and I just love the light. I wish I could post them all so you could see, I just hope the mom likes them as much as I do!

Now...I am going to get pretty busy for the next couple of months :) I am hoping I will have time to post more than just a few from my shoots...but I dunno. I guess we'll see how well I do with time management!!! LOL wish me luck.

O.k. any one who can please let me know what you see. I am at my Mother in laws on her laptop and these pictures below of my nephew look horrible. I can see the black background ripples. The picture with the baby on the cake plate has some black blobs on the right near the bottom etc. On my computer at home everything is black and I printed these and they looked perfect and all black but on this computer they do not look good. so I want to know how they look to you. maybe I need to do some adjusting. or maybe it's just this computer. I would hate to think they look like this to to everyone but me. help!!!!

O.k. so here is a repost~ I just could not stand thinking that some of the pictures looked bad. I am sure it has to do with old and new monitors or back lighting etc. no matter what I did I could not get my monitor to display what I was seeing on other computers. very frusterating. These boys were so cute. I loved how the oldest kept debating with me how many pictures we were gonna do. "how many?" i say "lets do ten" he would say "ummm how bout one!" oh I wish it were only that easy to capture the best of a 1, 2 1/2, and 4 year old in one shot! We had so much fun! The title of this post is {Pheew} because these two beautiful sisters gave me a run for my money! Their mom and I were sweating bullets by the time we were done. It was so funny! The oldest is 2 1/2 and the little one is 1 1/2 and they were not going to look at me or smile for nothin! I did capture a lot of beautiful shots though, and how could I not with girls as beautiful as these. Tell me what you think of this? These are Mr. "Z"s baptism (8 year old )pics and I had the idea after editing this picture, and thinking I should do something cool with it. So I snapped a shot of the scriptures real quick and photomerged it with some texture, then underlayed it and did some erasing and opacity...so what do you think? I would love to get some feedback.. is it to cheesy? or kinda cool?

I was not going edit these today but...I JUST HAD TO! This was by far the most anticipated, difficult, fun, and rewarding shoot I have done so far. It really really tested me. The wedding party was 51. It was middle of the day (high noon lighting) and like 100 deg. But It was SOOO worth it!

It will truly be a day I will remember, because you gave me the chance to shoot My first wedding and it was an amazing experience....you guys made it easy because you were so fun, and not to mention beautiful!!

This is my new toy! I am so excited! I have been working hard, and almost had enough money saved from my shoots to buy so Corey decided he wanted to help me and just get it because I am shooting my first WEDDING tommorow and he wanted me to have this new fabulous lens! It came this morning, and I have been playing with it all day! First of all it is sooooo heavy! but it's o.k. because it takes AMAZING pictures! I did not even know what I was missing. I can not wait until tommorow to see what kind of MAGIC I can make with it!

Some personal thoughts. . . .

I just want to put this out there in the universe somewhere, Why do we do what we do?
What drives us to persue talents, passion, and different paths in our life? And truly aren't they always changing? Once I was an artist, I did water color, oil, pencil, you name it... My bedroom was a plaster of quotes, pictures, magazine pages,and I danced, Dancing was my true passion, the expression of emotion through movement and the beauty of the music and motion has no other feeling when you are in front of a crowd of hundreds of people. And photography, taking pictures led me to scrapbooking which led me to more photography,,, So art is my true love. As a stay at home mom I was starting to feel like that part of myself was beginning to get lost and I wanted to persue something I truly loved to make me feel more like myself and so I said it is now or never. There is never a better time than NOW to persue passions, and be who you are. First I am a mother, wife, and daughter of god. And then my alter ego who is the artist In whatever form it lends itself.
I am in awe at the beauty that are talents in whatever form god gives to us. For some talents are hidden in everyday acts of kindness and for others like Da vinci they are for the world to see, but what if we never acted on them? what would the world be like? So this is for everyone out there, be what you want to be and do what you want to do. God made us who we are, and at different moments our talents are used for different things. Find out what they are are live your dreams...express yourself..and don't hide them or get intimidated.

Let me introduce you to baby "J" he is such a sweetheart. Little "j" was born with a heart defect that kept him in the hospital for 3 months and has had 2 heart surgeries and more to come. His family loves him so much. It was such a pleasure to be able to do these for his mom. This picture is a treasure. I love how he is all bundled in his moms hands and you can see the scar on his tiny little chest...

This is my son "E" he is such a sweetheart. Such a joy to my life. He is getting so big. 6 years old. Kindergarden is ending and he is going into first grade next year. he looks so much older than he is, this picture makes him look so grown up!

I have a blogger friend who is doing a series of photos called I LOVe this life. Little snippets into our personal life, things that describe who I am. I wanted to play along with her and I will be posting photos for this randomly along the way.
this is my first photo. It is a few things I got this mothers day. Flowers from myhusband, a plate from my 6 year old and an all about my mom paper from my 8 year old. And a cute little foot print signature on a card from my baby (I have the cutest husband) What describes how much I love my life more than this photo!!

This might be silly to some of you, but I am way excited! ;0) I have been taking some classes and learning lots of new things. Photoshop is very overwhelming, and I only have elements. But I did learn some stuff in class today about layers and I figured out how to do a B/W conversion with a chocolate tint, and I did it all by myself without buying an action! I know any of you who do not speak photography might not even know what I am talking about...but I was totally excited tonight when I tried it on some pics of my baby boy! The teacher did not exactly teach us this but just a few things with layers and I came home and figured it out on my own!!! ANYONE please tell me if you think these look good!??

I had so much fun shooting this adorable newborn and his sister!! I got so many great shots. I also was going to buy some actions and apply them, but then I started to play around in photoshop and did some of my own. I love how they turned out. o.k. so I posted a ton of these pictures of my daughter because she is mine and I can and I love them. She is so beautiful inside and out. I could not have asked for a better oldest child or daughter. I love her so much. It was so fun to do this with her at the temple. I know it is something I will remember forever!

In these two pictures below of the water fountain, I was playing around with shutter speeds. If you notice one looks like the water is fuzzy and the other the drops are frrozen, pretty cool huh!

on this picture below I was playing with my telephoto lens. I love the depth of feild I got on this picture. And the Ivy is beautiful! I need to try this lens out with some families...or maybe my daughter when I do her baptism pics at the temple!

I love to be thrifty! this shelf decor cost a lot less than you might think....
starting left to right. white plates from dollar stor $1.50 ea. plate rack from rod works $10, real silver platter from sun city yard sale $5!! old refurbished frame free, another dollar store plate, and Pottery barn soup bowl on sale, with discount $6! and the shelf was a gift!

I was way excited for the opportunity my sister in law gave me to help her with her modeling portfolio. We went to down town lincoln and tried some different stuff. I think they turned out prety good. It was fun, the best part for me though was all the honks and whistles she got out on the street. It was pretty funny! Tell me what you think of these new shots and location.

O.k! I have gotten a little bit of flack for posting this picture! But I have to tell you that if you knew my sister in law you would know that she loves this picture. And I posted it for her. Any way, she has the butt for it!

I just painted this black shelf! It has been on my to do list forever! My Grandpa actually made it for me about 6 years ago. It was great natural wood but I was getting bored with it and I really needed something over our desk in the kitchen. I refinished the desk to about a year ago. That was a chore! it was oak and ugly!
Now my only delima is ...what do I put on top of the shelf? maybe I will post a pic. of that when I figure it out.

This dresser is one of my favorites! I found it on the side of the road for FREE!
It was yellow on the bottom with wooden nobs, some missing and the top was beat up wood as well. I faux leather finished the top. Distressed the heck out of the white with a screwdriver and hand painted all the drawers and the design. I love the way it turned out, so I just had to post it.

O.k.! I am so so so happy with how this shoot turned out. But how could I go wrong with my model subjects. They are both just beautiful. I posted lots of pics because this is a preview for mom as well. I also am feeling so great about the manual settings lately and definatley did lots better this time.
